Walls full of pictures make me happy. I’m totally one of those snoops at other people’s houses that wants to look at all their pictures. Is anyone else like this? Please tell me I’m not the only one.

While renting our first home, I itched to put lots and lots of pictures up, but the thought of having to fill a ton of holes in the wall didn’t appeal to me. When we bought this house and moved in, I realized that we were better off waiting to put things up until after we’d painted. So three months after painting the living room, I finally got around to hanging pictures. {please excuse the messy couch; it was wash-the-slipcovers day}

The living room/kitchen is really open, so there was a lot of wall space that looked blank and lonely. Putting curtains up right before Christmas really helped, but I couldn’t wait to finally get photos on the wall. Lemme rephrase that: I have frames on the wall. As you can see, the photos haven’t quite made it in the frames yet.

In a perfect world with money trees growing in the backyard, all the frames would match. But last I checked, that was a magnolia tree my puppy was stripping the leaves off back there, so I mixed in some white frames I had too, and I kinda like it. Some frames have pictures. Most of them are wedding photos, so obviously I need to update a few. As far as the “instant relatives” that came with the other frames I bought? Those will disappear as soon as I figure out which pictures I want to have printed at CVS.

Speaking of empty frames…my secret sister at church gave me this beautiful frame for my birthday. I think it’s absolutely beautiful and perfect for this space by our front door.

While re-decorating the living room after un-decorating it after Christmas, I rolled out all the frames that had been on our piano at the trailer. The gallery wall kinda┬ámimics what’s going on over here, and so far I like it. If I can just stop rearranging all the frames we’ll be good.

And, with that little gallery wall project, I get to say it: our living room is done! We have the furniture we need, a rug, curtains, everything is painted, and photos are up. Now, y’all know that I’ll keep tweaking throw pillows and candles and such in this room, but the majority of things are done. That makes me happy and really makes me look forward to finishing the rest of our house!!

Also? Do you want to see a picture of who has been licking my ear and crowding my lap while I’ve been typing this? I thought so….

Jack 001

No, he’s not for sale, but you can borrow him for a few hours if you promise to give him a bath before you bring him back. :)

By the way, do you all think I should try for all black and white pictures on our wall, or does color mix it up a bit?

  3. First of all, you are NOT the only person who wants to peak at others photos when you are at their house. I am exactly the same way. And I think the color helps mix it up a bit!! :-)
